The Thursday Gents

Thirty or so players gather every Thursday for some robust golf and a beer afterwards, and every Thursday the winner receives a logoed golf ball that reads "The Thursday Gentlemen."

These Gentlemen have since the mid-nineties organized themselves well. Their calendar's many anticipated fixtures include Jupiter Cup matches against Chorleywood Golf Club and matches against HSGC's own Ladies Section, when foolishly the Gents, gentlemen that they are, give two shots to the Ladies. Afterwards, luncheon is taken in the pavilion. The Ladies and Gentlemen alternate cooking duties each year.

The Thursday Gentlemen have their own magazine, called The Thursday Golfer, and their own committee, which sits three or four times a year to further the interests of its members.

New members are most welcome. And two pounds will buy you a beer.
